This page is for team members to collaborate and discuss ideas, resources and content, as well ask asking questions. Team members are; Jonny, Kacey, Amy & Ben.
8/3/12 Minutes from group meeting (2hrs).
In this session the group analysed all the content within the Number and Algebra strand of the curriculum. Discussions were based on each sub strand and their particular features and changes throughout each year level. We cooperatively decided to take an in depth look at the Fractions and Decimals sub strand. For the next hour we explored, navigated and experimented with possible ideas for this particular task which included the creation of this wikispace. Prior to our next meeting, we are to take a look at the required learning outcomes for each year level and gather ideas about how we might have observed that being taught in the classroom.
In today’s session the group discussed the key learning developments from each of the year levels (P-6). During the week, each team member analysed the Number and Algebra strand of the Curriculum and derived declarative and procedural knowledge’s that were to be learned across all year levels. These knowledge’s were collaborated, and added the group wiki (Declarative and Procedural knowledge’s can be found on the Australian Curriculum page).
Today an extensive analysis was started to comprehensively define on all the sub strands of the curriculum as part of the task requirement. This exhaustive analysis will aid in underpinning the key learning developments across each year level. Today the group also reviewed the relevant chapters out of the textbook, in order to have a comprehensive and detailed understanding of the fractions and decimals strand of the curriculum.
22/3/12 Minutes from group meeting (2hrs)
This group meeting focused on identifying the core key elements required in learning across the year levels. We researched Siemon's and Booker's text books and identified how this progression should be delivered in the classroom. We began drafting the basic elements of a flow chart which identified the core learning elements and made notes of hoe this is to be taught.
We broke this task down into small elements and divided the tasks up for further research which will be pooled together in the next meeting.
29/3/12 Minutes from group meeting (2hrs)
In this session we pooled our informaton together from our research and discussed what was regarded as important development stages.
We divided into pairs. One group focused on redrafting the flow diagram using more appropriate software to suit the application while the other group began researching common misconceptions and challenges faced by students at these progressive core learning outcome levels. Research by all four members at delegated year levels continued in our own time for our next session.
7/4/12 Minutes from group meeting (4hrs+)
Today, we pooled together our research on misconceptions and challenges that students face into a group discussion. We noted similarities and differences identified. We discussed the complexity of these challenges and where they would best fit the curriculum learning outcomes. We cooperatively discussed and decided how we could best display this information gathered. We further discussed how we would best display and define our solutions and examples to these problems. As a group, we researched, identified and discussed the best possible theory based solutions for the problems identified. Basically, 3 people researched with text books while one person typed and formated the solutions.
